Sharing The Story of Vegalta

goal_com_logoHRWe were contacted by who caught the trailer for FTMH online and wanted to find out more. Cesare Polenghi – Managing Editor for Asia, was Editor for Japanese football at the time of the Tohoku earthquake and reported heavily on the efforts of the JLeague teams as they tried to resume the ‘normality’ of the football season in the earthquake and tsunami struck regions. He also covered many of the charity games and fund-raising efforts throughout Asia at that time. These were all pieces that we referred to frequently as we discussed the project.

You can read a couple of Cesare’s original pieces Here, and Here.

The FTMH article was written by Dan Orlowitz – Assistant Editor at Asia and probably one of the most dedicated lovers of JLeague football you’re ever likely to meet. We shared a very pleasant time talking about all aspects of the beautiful game and we will hopefully be meeting up at some point during filming, along with Cesare, to continue the conversation.

The interview has now been translated to their many Asian editions and has been featured in Thailand, Singapore, India, China, Indonesia and Hong Kong, to name but a few. Many thanks to everyone at for their efforts.

Sendai and Hope

the-diplomat_logo_enCatching up on a couple of great news stories run recently about FTMH, the first of which is Jonathan DeHart’s excellent piece in The Diplomat. Following on from their extensive coverage of Sendai and the rise of Vegalta after the earthquake which featured heavily in our research, Jonathan examines the wider aims of our project and our experiences with the local community. Well worth a read and an excellent publication to follow online.
