Firstly, apologies for not updating the site in so long. We became acutely aware that until we had some specific news, there seemed to be nothing we could really update you all on… Other than to say “We’re still here”. Life then also has a habit of taking over. One of the problems of making a self-funded film like this is that you have to do some ‘normal’ work once in a while!
Finally though, we have something exciting to talk about!
After several disappointments and false leads, we had some great news toward the end of 2014, when editor Aki Mizutani joined us on the FTMH team. Geoff and I met Aki in Tokyo on one of our first trips and she immediately impressed us with her work and her approach. She loved the idea for the film but events worked against us in taking anything further.
The delay in early 2014 meant however that we were able to get back in touch and thankfully, Aki agreed to take on the project. She came to London for 10 days in December to start editing and made a great start – producing a first cut of the complete film. It was great to see everything finally come to life and we’ll now work back and forth online to get everything finished.
Working out of Cutters in Tokyo, Aki edited ‘The Tsunami and the Cherry Blossom’, a fantastic film which was Oscar nominated in 2012. You can check out the trailer for this here.
Thank you all for your patience and support. We can’t tell you enough how much it means to us and how much we want to get this film finished. We should be able to update you soon on when this will be but it won’t be too much longer. We’ve been busy getting some deals in place while we’ve been away so have some other good news, which we can hopefully tell you soon.
